Talkabout Primary Languages

A network for all who teach languages to children

Hi everybody,

I teach Year 1, and have recently set up a link with a school in Wales. Obviously I want for my Language Teaching and the childrens' learning to be "meaningful" however, I cannot speak any Welsh and can't seem to find any suitable, preferably free interactive resources. I am hoping to teach basic greetings, numbers and a few songs that we can share in a video conference.

I am very much a French/Spanish person so this is a whole new ball game for me and appreciate the fear my non-specialist teachers must feel when tasked with Language Teaching!

Any advice and direction would be gratefully appreciated

Can I suggest that you approach CILT Cymru for advice or at least look at their website? http://www.ciltcymru.org.uk/

Try Snapdragon on the BBC site http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/snapdragon/yesflash/intro.htm

And here are some helpful lessons/games - http://www.learn-welsh.net
