Talkabout Primary MFL

A network for anyone teaching languages in Primary

Does anyone out there know of a simple song (In French) suitable for a Y6 leavers assembly? Maybe one of you 'creative types' has written some words to a familiar tune that you would be willing to share?! I thought I'd ask before setting to and trying to write my own!!!
Many thanks
Corinne

Hi Laure,
thanks for that..I did get your e-mail but am having trouble with replying at the moment. I hadn't realised that it is the french version of Auld Lang Syne and would be GREAT..have ordered CD from LCF with it on... BUT will have to be for next year as am now doing Qu'est-ce qu'il y a (our centenary song) as have been requested to perform it for village competition NEXT WEEK!! For leavers I will just alter last verse with Au revoir instead of il y a. See you Friday.
Many thanks to all for the responses..panic over..for now!

Hi Corinne!
There is a traditional song...used in schools in France to say good bye... try googling "ce n'est qu'un au revoir..." Online you will find the words and the music...Hope this helps
Hope the celebrations go well X Laure

It's a bit of a mouthful but I think it's something like
Vous nous manquerez beaucoup? or Nous allons vous manquer beaucoup?
and it's bonne chance.
You could also try ( to the tune of Big Ben's chimes)
au revoir x 4 (1/4 hour
a bientot x 4 (1/2 hour)
nous allons vous manquer
beacoup, beaucoup x 2 (3/4 hour)
Bonne chance (Boing! Boing! etc up to 12)
You could try alternating boys/girls or diff yr groups, class/ audience etc

what about..

au revoir
au revoir
a bientot
a bientot
then something like
we are going to miss you
we are going to miss you
bon chance
bon chance

sorry don't know we are going to miss you in French? Or something like that to the tune of frere jaques

Very simple

Best suggestion I can think of is the Sound of Music song
A bientot, au revoir, auf wiedersehen, adieu.
Bright pupils could have a go at penning their own one word farewell sentences?
Any good?

Thanks Lorraine,
I was looking for something simple... along the lines of goodbye/goodluck etc that the Y1-5 could sing for the Y6s... or the Y6s could sing for the rest (And the parents understand bits/most of) Repetition is always good as the 'performance' lasts a bit longer and seems more impressive!
Thanks again

Hi Corinne,
There are loads of possiblities- some adapted some written especially and some traditional French ones! Give us a clue as to topic and I'm sure suggestions will come flooding in!
