Talkabout Primary MFL

A network for anyone teaching languages in Primary

Been doing some work on the QCA Unit 4 in French to add to our wiki pages. So far have created two powerpoints to cover the first three lessons or so, which you are welcome to download, chop 'n' change, translate into something else, add your own bits etc. If you do any of this in German or Spanish by the way I'd be particularly grateful if you can upload what you make/adapt here in the comments or straight onto the wiki as it's looking a bit bare in certain areas.
So far, these ppts cover basic colours and parts of the body/face on an introductory level, and the games are just the ones from the QCA units, but hopefully in a more accessible format. The grid for the faces in the 2nd powerpoint is thanks to Joe Dale's explanation of using triggers and should work on any type of board, interactive or not. I am also very grateful for his tip to use the 'insert duplicate slide' feature which makes complicated slides so much quicker and easier to adapt to any topic without starting from scratch each time. The soundfiles are from Babelzone so you should be able to download those directly from their site, save into your music folder and link into the powerpoints as & when you need them, and the videos referred to are from YouTube, with hyperlinks straight to them, which you will probably need to download at home to play in school using www.mediaconverter.org/ I've put instructions and notes about games etc in the notes pages beneath each slide. Thanks to people who have been adding links and files to the wiki pages already - it's really helpful!

I notice that you, like me, omit `Sauf si je le demande' at the end. I love this book and have done a lot of work with it but the last phrase always sounds slightly lame.

Wow, Jo, these are fantastic...I'm going to have a look at doing similar things in Spanish! Not being a Primary trained teacher I never really know what kind of activities to do so these are great for me to think about! Can't wait to get started
Thanks again,
Helena :o)

Fabulous assortment of activities Jo - can't wait to try some out - many thanks :)

I love the Grand monstre vert story and am uploading a powerpoint I adapted slightly after our AST returned with storytelling ideas and resources following a 'Training for Learning' session. The final slide I have used as a 'Swat' style game to promote/assess auditory comprehension. Be warned however... pupils can get quite animated playing 'Swat' especially if there's a reigning champion being challenged for his/her title!
