Talkabout Primary Languages

A network for all who teach languages to children

Salut, Bienvenido, Wilkommen and hello to all fellow puppet fans.

Hopefully,( if I've done it right) here should be an upload of a presentation I did for our local linguist regional support group (IOW). Only 3 people turned up, so as the work is done thought I'd share it here.

Those of you signed up to slideshare can view it direct, or if I've followed Joe dale's instructions hopefully it should come up above

Enjoy!

Nice one Lorraine. I love my props but not everyone loves puppets; by best puppet is by Folkmanis- Google to see.

The jewelled snail that Katja Neubauer showed us came from Folkmanis and they do have a good selection, but I haven't yet found an English outlet, so didn't put them in my presentation.

I did actually stress in my presentation that it was not about being a 'pupeteer' but using them as motivational aids for children to use.

Love it ! As a newbie primary practitioner, using puppets is something I've been contemplating. I've got a collection of finger puppets already. As there are some children I can't video, I'm thinking of videoing them doing dialogues via puppets instead.

Thanks for this Lorraine - I really appreciated reading it. Do you mind if I link to it on my blog? The photo that appears on this is of a camel puppet I got from 'puppets through the post' and is called "Chami". The kids find him super funky and cool. They did a short dialogue recently where they interviewed him for basic personal info and loved it. I have just been trying to think this week of how to use him more in lessons and may well post some video clips from lessons if I feel brave enough!
