Talkabout Primary MFL

A network for anyone teaching languages in Primary

Hi one and all. It's been a while since I posted but here is a link to a package of resources I produced exploiting the French version of the song to introduce Noddy (Oui Oui in French). As repeating "oui oui" repeatedly and loudly has a predictable giggle factor, you have to be fairly confident with your groups! But it can be a really fun tune to use if your are confident.

I used it to focus on the French ' i ' sound and also to back up work I had been doing on parts of the body, colours, clothes. You have access to download all the video karaoke, mp3, Word worksheets, Smartboard notebook files, a team scorer based on the image of Noddy at the top of this post, and if you use the Sanako Media Assistant, some files for this too. If you have any other ideas for developing or using these, or need to know anymore about creating/using the materials, let me know!

I am also uploading here a notebook file I use to practice French vowel sounds. It is sung to the tune of 'Little Brown Jug'. As you can hear from the mp3 attached it gives them an excuse to sound like monkeys (always fun!!) and you can vary the speed gradually increasing it to make it more challenging.

Here is a screen shot

The idea is that half the class sing the right hand side and half the left.

Here is the mp3

Hi Jo

Thanks for the kind comments. Let me know what works, how you might adapt things. Most ideas are better for sharing as others bring their own contributions.

Hi Mark

These are wonderful resources - thank you so much for sharing. I really love the use of the Oui Oui song to identify the i/y phoneme too and am also grateful for te tip about using flash files directly in notebooks - thank you!
