A network for all who teach languages to children
For some time, I've been developing an approach to the very first lessons in new languages that is designed to anticipate and avoid failure by building the biggest adjustments that children need to make to their thinking into the initial lessons, and then practising. I've now uploaded the French and Spanish versions to my blog, www.johnbald.typepad.com, and am interested in comments.
I'll be presenting a paper on grammar at the ALL conf on Friday and would be happy to meet anyone else who's going.
Have just received Clicker 6, which looks tremendous.
Comment by Julie Prince on March 25, 2012 at 20:09 Thank you so much for this, John, I have enjoyed your posts on grammar in the past and your talk is the one I would really like to hear at Language World. I am not sure at this stage if I am going so it would be fantastic to be able to read some of the information. Just one problem - I can't open the zipped files. It doesn't give me the option of 'open with...' Any suggestions? (I'm really looking forward to reading it).
Best wishes
Julie
Comment by John Bald on March 25, 2012 at 20:21 Thank you very much, Julie. I will happily send you unzipped copies by email. They are just wordfiles and one ppt. I will also post the ppt that I will be using on Friday. I'm confident that this approach will solve a lot of problems - if these things are put in place first, then language can be developed in any way the teacher chooses.
