A network for all who teach languages to children
ILILC 2012 - The ICT Links In Languages Conference is fast approaching and I am certainly looking forward to it. Held over a weekend (25/26 Feb 2012) to allow teachers to attend who might not otherwise be released from school, this conference has, in my opinion, an atmosphere of infectious enthusiasm like no other. Full details can be found at http://www.languagessoutheast.ac.uk/events/ict-and-languages-confer...
It's great value for money but if you have no budget at all and are in the area, you could always pop along to the FREE MFL Show 'n' Tell event on Saturday 25th February at the Highfield House Hotel, Southampton. Many teachers attending the ILILC weekend will be attending this too, so it's going to be a busy night of 5 minute practical ideas to take away and try out in your classroom. Oh and there's a bar - always makes for a 'sociable' event! More details and to sign up go to http://ililc.wikispaces.com/
Even closer is the Brent Languages Conference on Thursday 26th January. I am really looking forward to doing an update on Primary Languages and a workshop about using the Olympics as a theme for language learning with lots of resources to give away. More details are here http://networkforlanguageslondon.org.uk/2011/12/08/london-borough-o...
Looking forward to March, the Merton and Kingston Primary Languages Conference is on Friday 23rd March. It has a storytelling theme, and Freshwater Theatre Company will give a performance of one of their latest fairy tales (in either French or Spanish), while Jo Coles will run a workshop on storymaking in MFL. I'm hoping to do a presentation possible along the lines of using phonics & making literacy links in langauges too.
If you have a Primary Languags event coming up then do please let us know about it - the forum area is a great way of spreading the word to teachers.
