However, below is an extract!

Using song clips as a backing track for language work

Hi

I have put a post about this here

I used it today with a yr 6 class who picked it up very quickly.

I would just like to add my own congrats to all those on the CILT primary Mfl conference team. As someone working with SingUp and Mfl I was thrilled to see the emphasis on language… Continue

New Scholastic cross-curricular French resources published today

Hi All

Happy New Year!

2010 is the year I become a published author; `time she put her money where her mouth is' you might say!

I have to say the books have been a long time in coming- nearly 2 years since the project was initiated. I did the outline planning for the whole series and masses of research, re-writes and editing along the way, including finding additional authors. Great to have my friends and colleagues Alison Clarke and Heather Crabtree from the… Continue

Partner School in France

So - yes, it's probably not even called that . . . but I'm at home and the folder with information is at school.

The HT decided that - while most children are away on residential for the week - the remainder of Y5/Y6 could work with me and send something to our partner school. The small primary school in France has already sent photographs of children : we had to decide which child was which by reading info on an 'identity card' which described features such as hair, glasses,… Continue

Ideas for Christmas

It's December, and Jo has decorated the page, so guess we'd better acknowledge that Christmas is coming! So, in case you don't find it all by yourself, I thought I'd point you towards a post on my blog entitled Resources for Christmas. I could just copy it all here but I don't like to do that too often as it seems like cheating to me. So if you're interested, all you have to do is… Continue

The Catherine Cheater schemes are very popular - some LA's have even bought enough for all their schools. In Devon the scheme is even handed out free to schools who attend the Catherine Cheater training for each Year group. By sending in a receipt for the recommended book packs, Devon schools can also obtain the stories on PowerPoint read by native speakers - which is a… Continue

Non-specialists like the fact you can just pick it up and go - all the linguistic support as well as demo DVD are provided. Each activity is… Continue

Flashcards - Getting Children to Remember Language

Flashcards are essential in MFL teaching to Introduce new vocabulary. Create an audio / visual link between object + sound + word. Reinforce and aid memory.

The perfect flashcard should be at least A4 size, with a clear image on one side and the target language written large and bold either on the reverse or underneath the image. If…
