So - yes, it's probably not even called that . . . but I'm at home and the folder with information is at school.
The HT decided that - while most children are away on residential for the week - the remainder of Y5/Y6 could work with me and send something to our partner school. The small primary school in France has already sent photographs of children : we had to decide which child was which by reading info on an 'identity card' which described features such as hair, glasses, clothes, etc.
OK…

Hi
I have put info about some poems I found on the subject of Autumn
here.
I have simply put material I found elsewhere onto a Smartboard Notebook file for easier viewing but the site I found them on is referenced and has links to a lot of 'comptines' and poems suitable for KS2.

Hi all, I'm looking for advice again. As a student nearing the end of my GTP course, I am going to hold a staff meeting on teaching French. It is this Thursday, and I have loads of notes and a handout of 9 pages long so far, and I am a little concerned about what I really need to say. I am at an Infant school, so obviously that influences our MFL teaching, and the staff don't want me to make them play games! Has anyone run a MFL staff meeting before? Do you have any ideas about what I can tell p…

I have been doing a lot of work on pronunciation with my trainee teachers. I wanted to create a nice display of words with the same sound. I started by collecting words on a sheet of A3 card eg a card with OI words and getting the students to add a new word when it came up eg bois. This is a good activity but the resulting posters are not very attractive. I found some lovely Word templates on
SparkleBox in a folder called sb8…

Just thought I would post this link to a site I stumbled upon today. There is a fantastic load of material here for French and Spanish teachers. It is a Spanish company site and languages represented are all the mainland Spanish ones plus French and English.

Another work in progress this, for the remainder of this half term with my whole KS2 class. I've attached my first powerpoint so far, which introduces the Unit - it has lots of soundfiles which are from the built-in PowerPoint mediaclips (so should work on most people's versions of ppt) or from the…

A couple of weeks ago I discovered that we had in the LA a very talented French assistant who sang and played the guitar. Last week we set up an impromptu recording studio at the Sandhill Centre and recorded 25 French songs, some traditional, some not so traditional. I'm so glad I found out about her the week before their contract ended and not the week after ! You'll find all the songs in mp3 format here

This post began life as a response to a question over on the
TES staffroom. How do you introduce colours to Year 1? Here are some of my ideas:
I'd start with a phoneme eg 'eu'. Get the class to repeat the sound an…

I'm intending to begin a series of blog posts later this week on the subject of storytelling in primary MFL. In the meantime I hope you enjoy these photographs of our school display, which exhibits work from both Y4 & Y5 pupils produced during a unit of study based on Eric Carle's much loved text 'La chenille qui fait des trous'.
The little mini-books you can see on the cupboards illustrate the sequence in which the caterpillar eats the different items of food throghout the week. Pupils gl…
