Powerpoint Tricks from the East Hampshire RSG

We were playing around using the dragndrop macro in powerpoint at the East Hampshire RSG last night. You can download the powerpoint slides we used below - to make them work you will need to set the security settings on your version of powerpoint to medium in order to enable the macro, then close powerpoint and then re-open it. You won't need to do this again. You will then be prompted to enable macros.

Essentially the macro allows you to mimc the effect of an Interactive… Continue

Primary Languages in Norfolk

There is a chance that very unexpectedly I might have to relocate to Hingham in Norfolk. Can anyone who is involved in Primary Languages in Norfolk give me any information about what is happening? I see on the web that they have just held their county wide conference on MFL in KS2 and that they have piloted the a cluster approach of secondaries linking with their feeder primaries. What hardware is generally available in schools? What courses are being run? I would be grateful for any insight.

Copyright - Please be careful

Putting this message on the main page because I think it is an area many people are unclear on. Please can you make sure when you share resources on this site that you have permission to do so. If it is entirely your own work this is fine, if it is someone else's make sure they are ok with it.

There are certain rules for images, music and books to which we need to adhere. Clip art and music clips are ok if they are the ones from ppt/word as most people have these programs to view… Continue

Useful Software

For some years now I have used a media player in lessons now called Sanako Media Assistant Solo, formerly called Divace Solo. I have just tried out the newer Sanako version and it is an excellent piece of kit. It allows you to very easily add subtitles to video. For example, I have added the whole transcript of every series of the Channel 4 series Chez Mimi to each episode at the click of a button. You can add questions that appear under the video at the precise moment on the track where you… Continue

Le 11 Novembre - jour de l'armistice

Wikipedia has a comprehensive definition of Armistice day for your class to explore, should they wish today, remembering that we mourn ALL those killed. For the very young, or just a lighter touch, you might want to make use of this printout poppy from teteamodeler.com that you could scribble some numbers and a key on in the corner to make into a… Continue

MFL Games

Below is a powerpoint slideshow of games and activities to play in the classroom to help language learning at all levels and I've cross-posted this onto the TES forum to make sure everyone gets to share. The list was started by a TES forum and I would love to keep on adding and updating it - so if you would be so kind as to add your own favourite ideas in the comments below I will add them to the presentation asap for us all to use.…

QCA Unit 4 Portraits & some powerpoint triggers

Been doing some work on the QCA Unit 4 in French to add to our wiki pages. So far have created two powerpoints to cover the first three lessons or so, which you are welcome to download, chop 'n' change, translate into something else, add your own bits etc. If you do any of this in German or Spanish by the way I'd be particularly grateful if you can upload what you make/adapt here in the comments or… Continue

The top tip from the London Languages Show - get a VOKI

Guess who was advocating getting a VOKI at the Languages Show on Friday? Only Thérèse Comfort, CILT Adviser for Early Language Learning, that's who! In her great 'Moving on - teaching languages in Y5 and Y6 , session which looked at progression and expectations for children who have already experienced two or three years of language learning in their primary… Continue
