L’ Halloween; some ideas and resources for French

Whether you do Halloween just for the fun of it or ‘spook up’ your current MFL topic, most of this should translate easily into German, Italian etc. but for Spanish I’d go for a Día de los Muertes theme at the start of November.…

Trains, ferries, buses and Ford Anglias - the IoW conference.

Before you get the wrong end of the stick, this post will not be all about how to teach transport in French, Spanish or any other language for that matter. The title refers to the many modes of transport I used this weekend in my travels to and from the Isle of Wight for the Isle of Wight Conference 2007 .

Intermediate ISA success for WCPS!

Yesterday saw good news for Whitehouse Common Primary School - not only did the OFSTED inspectors leave us ;o) but we also received notification that our apllication for the Intermediate ISA had been successful!

For those unsure as to what this is, the International Schools Award is run by the British Council to recognise schools that have raised the profile of Internationalism in

their curriculum. There are three levels, Foundation, Intermediate and Full.… Continue

EDL week at WCPS.

EDL has come and gone for another year, and I didn't get round to telling you what I was going to do as I had promised in my blog post in August. So here's a retrospective!

When I wrote the original post I was planning to ask the Head if we could have some kind of school celebration of EDL, but when it came to it, I went for it. My suggestion that all classes could do an activity based on a language of the teacher's choice, and then we'd have a celebration assembly on the… Continue
