Profile Information

I will/do teach the following languages:
French, German
About Me:
Originally a Secondary MFL teacher and HOD before retraining to teach in Primary. Since my lucky break sharing responsibility for a whole KS2 class with the Headteacher in a tiny Devon school, I somehow became a Primary Languages Consultant and then County Inspector/Adviser for MFL in Hampshire. As of Sep 2012 I am delighted to be back full time in Hiltingbury Junior School. I'm teaching the whole curriculum again which I love - but will always have languages in my heart.

I know I keep pinching myself too and I appreciate how lucky I am to be working with so many amazing and inspirational teachers every day.
I teach languages to these Year groups:
R-Yr13
Favourite/recommended MFL Website:

Favorite MFL resource:
Sock puppets and powerpoint! Also alphabet cards and fly-swats. And dice. And those easi-speak microphones. And...

Hi Jo,

Thanks Jo. It's a great site which I have recommended to the trainees. Many thanks for the Halloween ideas too, they're brilliant! Maybe some of my trainees will be able to use /adapt them for  their Yr7 classes. (The trainees are in schools full-time from now until Christmas).

It was great to see you at The Languages Show last weekend. It was also good to meet Susan and Joe.

A bientot,

Melanie

Thanks Jo! I'm looking forward to it, though I must confess I do feel a little daunted by the prospect of teaching nursery/ early years, but I'm sure I'll get into the swing of it once I start. This site looks great. It'll be great to share ideas with others here / get inspired!. :)

Hi Jo

I teach French all the way through from Reception to Yr 6. I would love your thoughts on building progression through the year groups to avoid repetition. Is there a scheme of work which covers Reception to Yr 6?

Thanks Gina
