I am a 'retired' teacher who has been teaching French to the whole primary range in my primary school for the last 2 years. I have struggled to find suitable resources for KS1 so this site looks very promising
Hi Mary (sorry should I call you Mary Carmel? )
Just a quick hello to welcome you to our little network which I hope you find useful and fun.
In KS1 myself I like to base teaching around a picture book rather than topics - so I love things like 'La Chenille qui fait des Trous' and all the books recomended in the Catherine Cheater sow (you don't actually need the sow but it is good as lots of lovely finger rhymes in the Yr 3 one which I think littlies in KS1 would love). There are a couple of recent members who specialise in KS1 so do 'explore' a little and click on members to find out what interests them and leave a message for them in the comment box on their page. Of the top of my head Alison (one of the earliest members) has posted a scheme of work based on Handa's surprise which you can download from her pages.
Anyway - good to 'meet' you
Jo
I am sure you will love our little group and all the ideas it generates. I teach French too and my links to French resources may be of interest to you. Go to my blog, My languages at http://isabellejones.blogspot.com scroll down until you see the long list of key words on the right then click on French. You can then filter to get links for primary French only.
