Sumana Mukerjee said… Bonjour Margaret,
Merci beaucoup pour votre reponse. I usually pick a theme and design an activity based on that. Also, I try to use technology to make the class more lively. I feel that the children enjoy the visual learning. Also, I try to see that I have the children listen to native conversation, songs etc so that they are familiar with the language and the accent. The games that the children love to do are the hangman dealing with vocabulary and also I play the Bingo(tombola) game with numbers with them which their favourite. I'm a little stuck with the dance and drama part of it because I don't know much of French traditional dance as I grew up in India and got my french language training here itself.
Sumana Mukerjee said… Hi Margaret,
My name is Sumana and I too am a French teacher in an IB school in India. I handle the Primary years and the Middle school grades. I would like to share my teaching experiences with you and would appreciate if you could tell me more about your teaching methods. I feel really good when I see my PYP children learning French so enthusiastically in a non-francophone atmosphere. They can almost do anything from reading in french, singing french songs, dance , dramas for the school assembly. Hope to hear from you.
