2 medals & a step up

Hello all,
Had been considering for some time adapting the Literacy '2 stars & a wish idea' for MFL. I liked the concept but wanted to adapt it to make the MFL version special & different.
Well with Ofsted due tomorrow decided to take the bull by the horns and do it! So here is my version for your perusal. Picture, instructions and doc. below after the space.(Not used to all this technical stuff yet)

Prima Kinder!

Have you noticed our new group? I've decided it was about time we had a new sub-group to share ideas and resources. Please look at joining up, so we can push at what, in my area at least, is a fast declining language!

Hi Lorraine, I use two swagbag style bags that I got from Ikea. Then for example when we are doing colours in French, I have identical toys/items of different colours in each bag (eg a yellow chicken, a pink peg, etc). We all go through these as a class and say the colour as I put the items in the bag. Then two children come to the front. Another child asks for rouge, maybe. Then both children must try to be the first to find the object in the bag without looking. The get very excited about it! This can be adapted for different themes like food or animals. I hope this helps!

I was the one who volunteered to be Katharina Ritter's Erzählkind. Red hair. Actually I took up Maike Alex's invitation to go and see Katharina Ritter at the south London primary school the following Monday morning. It was great. Two classes of children from a very deprived area, only one of which had learnt German, and she kept them captivated for an hour, telling the stories mostly in German.

Hi Lorraine - we met at the Goethe Institut, didn't we? I don't know how I'd missed this forum before, but looking forward to taking part now I've found it. Did you find a job in the end?

Thanks - I will definitely be dipping into the resources - other than Early Start resources are thin on the ground for German!

Hi Lorraine,
It's not me, but unfortunately we "lost" Helen, out Primary French outreach teacher, a very inspired/inspiring and committed lady!
It's been a difficult year with redundancy, and with I fear it's not over, as they are restructuring the school system on the Island... we'll see.
I forgot where you teach... :-)

Thanks for your response Lorraine. Glad you like the Voyage Kids. I am trying to write some "I can" statements for the finish of the German Club course so the children can show them when they go on to secondary school but it takes ages.

Hi Lorraine

Thank you for your welcome. GrowStoryGrow has had over 1000 users since it first became live so we're happy with that response. I'll let you know when the German is ready - it should be at the latter end of the autumn term.
