Mystudiyo

I'm sure many of you will already have discovered this multiple choice quiz making site but if not, then have a look at my first attempt to see what kind of resource can be made.

The program is really simple to use and not too time consuming (my quiz took about 30 minutes to produce.)

If you've already had a dabble at producing something similar, then why not reply by posting a link direct to your own M… Continue

Animated 'Creepy Crawly' Videos

You may remember that Jo posted a blog on the subject of minibeasts quite recently. Well I'm not professing to have actually tried using any of the resources yet but I came upon these amusing videos quite by chance and couldn't resist sharing! Here's the link to the… Continue

Jumping on the back of Jo's last blog!

Jo's ideas were inspiring as always and I just wanted to add my voice to one of her recommendations in particular... if you haven't tried using the 'Toutes les couleurs' story by Alex Sanders yet, then get on-line and order yourself a copy straight away! It's a fabulous little tale of a very endearing rabbit and how she manages to come ho… Continue

Dear Jayne

No not too nosey at all! Got degree long time ago (1992) at Salford Uni, in French, Spanish & Marketing. Think if you're fluent-ish can still get in to OU. Chose OU because of FLEXIBILITY; up to 3 years to complete. Got 2 kids in Primary & hubbie works v long hrs, so only way I can see of doing PGCE realistically. Even willing to give up my 2 days/wk teaching Primary Spanish (I'm a Foreign Language Assistant) to study at home. lJust hope I get in!

Bonne chance with your career aspirations too!

Wow Jayne! How do you manage it with three children?! What degree are you studying for - or am I being too nosy now? I admire anyone who can study for anything via OU as you have to be so self-disciplined. You really are a star!

Hi Jayne
Thanks again for your great links and suggestions on the Unit 16 Plage blog. I like the idea of focussing more on instructional texts especially with the boat idea. The unit suggests it (the imperative) but only has the recipe/poem idea and it doesn't really go far enough, in my opinion, so the make-a-boat idea is great and I think would work really well. If I get a chance next term we'll try and I'll let you know how we get on!
Thank you again for your great ideas - Jo x

You're welcome! I am also looking at devising similar drag and drop exercises with Smartboard notebook so that it can be done off line too. However, I like the spontaneity of Word Magnet and the fact that you can ask the students to input words too. To get them directly involved, you could have 2 teams, the "inputters" and the "unjumblers". Of course, it depends on the class, but I am planning to try this out very soon... Watch this space!!

Hi Jayne
Sorry I missed your comment earlier - love the post by the way and the slidecast works fine when you actually click on the blog post, but I know what you mean about it showing up as just a little cross in a box the rest of the time...
Ok - I get this problem too - so far the only way I have figured out of sorting it, is to edit the blogpost again and save it again. Sometimes even a couple of times. I have no idea why it does this, however I have had a message from the ning platform people that they have been doing some work on the code for the site and will be again sometime today - so this may/may not have affected how it loaded in the first place, hence the need to re-insert the link in exactly the same way as you did it the first time. Hope this works!
