improving spoken french

I teach French to KS1 and KS2 children and my level of French makes me confident at doing this.Since starting to get involved in MFL at primary school level, I have been trying to improve my own spoken French. I have French A level and even did French for two years of a combined arts degree. I am ashamed to say that although I have a good understanding of written french (because of the way I learned at school - i.e. written translation and reading French literature), I am not good at…See More

French
About Me:
I am a primary music specialist branching out into primary languages. The two subjects go well together. I currently work in a school for three days a week teaching all the class music lessons and have recently taken on the role of MFL co-ordinator, sharing this with a colleague. From September 2008 I will be teaching French in my second part time job at a village school with mixed age classes. I have just returned from a Cilt course in France on teaching primary French - thoroughly recommended!!

Hi Alison

I came across your message to me from 19/10/08 as I was clearing out my inbox and realised that you were probably the first person to point me towards Sing Up so just wanted to say thanks. Since that time I have been to a lot of their free CPD, have attended their national male leaders conference, started working for them in this area on a Singing Mfl transition project and generally been hooked on the role of music/singing on Mfl acquisition. So, all due to you!

How is your role going? I'm trying to build my own network of those interested in music and language learning so if you are doing anything else with this I would love to know. There's the odd thing I post on my other sites, www.souffler.typepad.com and www.souffler.co.uk but I am going to be redoing the latter soon to put up a lot more on this that you might find useful. Keep in touch!

best wishes
Mark

Bonjour Alison

Welcome to our friendly group! I hope you find it useful and I am looking forward to sharing ideas and resources with you. You may be intested in the links to the resources I have on my blog for French as I teach it at both at Primary and secondary level-OK, and I am a native speaker as well! To find the links, go to My Languages then scroll down to a long list of keywords to the right (delicious tags), just click on the relevant keyword to get an updated list of links to resources e.g. French... You can filter for just Primary resources by clicking +primary once in del.icio.us to get a list of French Primary resources only.

I hope it is of use...
