Hi Amanda,
Think magnetic letters are a wonderful innovative way of introducing writing and spelling whilst making it fun for the students! The £1 penalty for lost letters is also a good idea. So now I just need to source some!

Beats my idea of having two lists of beginning and endings of words which they have to match up, which have to be made up each time.

Thanks for the info. Isn't this site such a mine of brilliant ideas?

Hello Amanda,
This site has so many people only just 'discoverd' you.

How do you work the 'magnetic letters? Do you have a set per child/table/class? Are there any problems with 'lost' letters? This is an idea which I'd been toying with, but was worried about logistics, so would love to hear how it works in practice. You can leave me a reply on my page if you've time -sorry about the 'bright' colours I'm a keen German enthusiast!

Hi Amanda
A belated welcome to the group from me - sorry! Really interested in how you are working with your primaries by the way - do please blog about it sometime if you get a chance - there are so many people trying so many different models and it's really useful to hear what others are trying. Do your teachers do the delivery of the lessons in the primaries? or do they support Primary specialists? or do they provide linguistic support? or is it a combination? and what language/s? Sorry I am bombarding you with questions!
On a minor technical note - should you find a load of emails being sent automatically to you from this site please accept my apologies - this sometimes happens by default when you first sign up. To switch them off, go to 'My Settings' underneath your picture/hello +name box in the top right of this page. Then go to emails and untick all the boxes.
Hope you enjoy the site and looking forward to sharing ideas with you!
Best wishes, Jo x

Hi Amanda
Welcome! I've just left secondary school and am about to embark on teaching 2 days/wk at primary, going back to my first love really.

Just wanted to say hi, as the new term starts and I'm trying to get back into gear. It's nice to communicate with cyber friends in the same boat!
