Talkabout Primary Languages

A network for all who teach languages to children

Hello everyone !

I was wondering if someone could please suggest me any other website appart from TES or eteach where I could find primary MFL (Spanish)  jobs advertised.

I am native Spanish and this is my second year teaching Spanish in the UK. The first year I taught from KS1 to KS3 and this year I am teaching from KS4 to KS5. I would love to come back to teach in primary, but I am not finding hardly any offers !

I have more than 8 years experience, and a BEd in MFL Primary.

I would really appreciate if you could pass me some useful information.

THANKS  in advance !!!

I am confused by your BEd in MFl primary - is it a full primary BEd with specialism in MFL - in which case you can apply for primary class teacher jobs and are likely to be offered the subject co-ordinator job at interview -it is extremely unlikely you'd see it advertised as such, instead you apply for a primary post and then offer it at interview.

It's a case of knocking on doors and contacting Headlteachers direct if you are looking to teach ONLY MFL in primary - you would be setting yourself up to work independently in much the same way as a peripatetic music teacher. Such jobs sometimes exist already in networks but are rare, much more effective is to get in, volunteer and offer your services direct.
Good luck - the jobs do exist!

Dear Jo,

Thanks indeed for taking your time to reply me and for your useful advice.  The TDA has recommended me also the same as you. My qualification allow me to go straight for teaching jobs, but I feel I would like to have a deeper knowledge about the National Curriculum before I would face a Primary Teaching Position. I have sent emails to good schools to see whether if I could have a job as a teaching assistant and a Spanish teacher. I hope this experience will help me have a much better insight and from there be fully prepared and confident to go for Primary jobs.

Hopefully soon I would get to move from A levels and IGCSE to Primary - MFL and I would be able to collaborate more in the forum.

THANKS very much again.

Good luck! Let us know how you get on - I'm sure it will work out x
