Hi all. I have just found this forum and I think I will be hanging around rather a lot...! I´m fairly new to MFL teaching and I need all the help I can get. Anyway, back to topic. I am going to this show on Saturday and I don´t really know what to expect. Hoping for inspiration, freebies, advice and also to buy some large story books and games (hoping Little Linguist might be good for these? They seem to have a good website). Does anyone have any tips on how to get the most out of the day? Thanks in advance everyone!
Hi, The Cilt show last year was good, not sure if the change of venue will make it better, its further to drive!!
its good to have a chance to look at lots of resources it definately gave me loads of ideas. Little Linguist had a really impressive display last year, so they'll probably have lots of story books to look at this year. There are usually some freebies going so make sure you visit every stand.
In that case I'm sad too!
I found one of the most useful aspects was the chance to network with people - everyone is usually so generous and friendly at the show. But i is ever so hard to keep track of everyone you meet so try to scribble names / contacts down as you go is my tip.
The exhibition is usually very good too, there seem to be lots of new products out this year, and there were some very good discounts last year so hoping for more of the same. I
Also -if you can it is worth partnering up with someone, going to different presentations and both getting an extra copy of any handouts if there are spare to swap with each other afterwards - that way you double your moneys worth.
Look forward to bumping ito you there!
Jo
Thanks Jo, that´s a great idea about swapping handouts. I haven´t decided what workshops I´m going to at the moment - I booked too late to pre-register unfortunately so I guess I will have to take my chances on the day. :D
Hope everyone had a good time at the show! What did you think about Liverpool? I'm not sure it was as great as Manchester - so big and took ages to find old friends etc! Didn't like the fact that there was no pudding at lunch either!
Talks were great, exhibition a bit disappointing though - not as many companies as normal.
I enjoyed it v much. It was my first show so I don´t have anything to compare it with though. Yes I agree I felt the absence of a pudding (and a cuppa) after my lunch but generally I thought the food was nice. I did a lot of the creative workshops (playground games, puppets, dance and language festival) and got lots of ideas and resources too :)
I think next year we should organise a Talkabout meeting so we can talk to one another in the flesh so to speak. Good to meet some Talkabout-ers but there wee many more that I didn't!
definitely. Although it is a lot of money, you get a wide variety of inputs and can choose things that are relevant to your school and situation. Even one of the two days is worth it.
