Talkabout Primary Languages

A network for all who teach languages to children

Hi All

I've been asked to teach a a couple of lessons across KS1 about how Christmas is celebrated in Spain. ( I know only a little Spanish and nothing of Spanish traditions.)  I know I could trawl the internet but was wondering if anyone here has any ready-made resources they could offer me.

With thanks
Barbara

Here is a powerpoint that I use ( I made it a few years ago and as long as you read out the words, it is suitable from yr 1) The children love the idea of the Caga Tio (Pooing Log) and when they learn that Santa doesn't visit Spain and the 3 kings go instead they are enthralled!
Hope this helps!!

Thanks, Sharon.
I was kindly sent a very simple song to the tune of 'We wish you a merry Christmas' using the Nativity characters. I've made some flashcards to teach the vocab prior to singing the song and I've included these at the end of the song, uploaded below. Feliz Navidad.

All my Spanish Christmas stuff is here http://www.sunderlandschools.org/mfl-sunderland/resources-christmas...  Some of it might be suitable for KS1.
