Talkabout Primary Languages

A network for all who teach languages to children

I have quite a bit of money to spend from this year's MFL budget and was wondering what fab resources people on here think is really worth having. It's mainly for Spanish but feel free to recommend French/other languages as well as they always come in handy for clubs/library etc. I have my eye on a few bits but not enough to use up the budget.

Wow! Money to spend? Fantastic! I have recently bought (or should I say the school have) Little Tails of the Unexpected -the whiteboard resource by Bee Lingua I think it was about £25. It 'introduces language items through well known fairy tails, each with an unexpected twist at the end.' I only bought the whiteboard resource cd rom which I have only really used as a 'film' of the story Little Red Riding Hood . I have just had another look and this cd rom also does other things- it does say so on the box but I didn't think it was there. There are also more expensive things to buy including interactive cds which are probably great.
I have produced some resources for LRRH which you are more than welcome to have. Hope it helps

Thanks, I will look into that one. What age group do you think it is aimed at or is it suitable for all of ks2?
I have used it throughout key stage 2. Sure it could be used lower down too!
Check out the resources available from teachersdiscovery.com, an American company who do some fantastic incentive items I buy every year. I love the stickers in particular and their CDs, although I can only speak for the French ones. The 'Sing, Dance, Laugh and Eat Quiche' series are great fun. The catalogue caters for French, Spanish and German. Ask for a catalogue to be posted to you as it's much easier to browse than the website. Have a look too at the website Yadeeda.com which is where to buy CDs of a singer called Alain Le Lait. I think that there's Spanish stuff available there as well as French and you can download each song you like for very little cost, saving you buying a whole album for just a few songs that are useful. Finally, check out the website www.zut.org , the subscription for which is not expensive and it has a ton of really useful stuff to use.
Happy spending!
