A network for all who teach languages to children

OK you've set me off now Lisa, here is the powerpoint 'draw' I used to give each child in my class a country to support for the 2006 footie, now re-done as 2007 Rugby world cup with appropriate countries and pools - all you need to do is change the names of the children for your class..

and here are two worksheets for parts of the (rugby player's) body - one French and one German. Also a powerpoint of same (rubgy player's) body in German - should be quick and esy to translate into French or Spanish but you may want to reduce the amount of vocabulary or use it as a bilingual dictionary exercise.

Here's the parts of the body translated into Spanish - will have a go at the PPT next!! That's more of a challenge but there are arrows to show the parts of the body so not too tricky!!!

Hi there

If it is of use to anybody, I have been gathering all my rugby links on my blog http://isabellejones.blogspot.com click on "rugby" in my del.icio.us tags on the right hand-side. It is not as good as your ready-to-teach stuff but it can give you ideas, provide you with materials that can be adapted and, in my case, update you with what rugby is all about.

[not the sort of thing I usually say publicly as in the South West of France-where I am from-if you say you are not that interested in rugby, you will probably end up in a mental institution!! ]

Two more bits and bobs! I've taken a screenshot of the world map from the Kit de survie and translated into Spanish the countries and nationalities, and also a worksheet matching pictures to words in Spanish for what you need to play rugby.

and a bit more including powerpoint presentation of project to class.

Message received from Helen Myers on ELL-forum -

I've created a very simple French) reading comprehension based on a photo gallery and simple overview from the Internaute site.

You can download the 2 page R/C and separately the answers from this page: (scroll to the end of the section 'downloadable resources')

http://www.all-london.org.uk/faq_french.htm#Rugby2007

It's dependent on this site:

Not too sure about some of my translations .. feel free to criticise gently and edit!!!

Helen

Will post pictures of my rugby display soon (got to finish it first) - the board is smaller than i recalled so not as impressive as I had hoped! Lisa XX
Ok everyone - so is the plan to adapt this for football for Euro 2008 or are we too scared to mention it now after no UK team managed to qualify???
Ooh yes - draw was done today and Spain have a decent group so I'm very excited! (how soon the English girl forgets ;o)
